Mary Rusimbi

Researcher, Tanzania

Mary Janet Rusimbi is a founding member and was the Executive Director of the Tanzania Gender Networking Programme (TGNP) for ten years until March 2007. As a founder of other organizations and board member of several organizations, she has been playing key leadership roles in the women's movement for many years, engaging in promoting gender equality, equity and social transformation in the country, regionally and internationally. She previously worked as a gender programme officer for the Royal Netherlands Embassy and the Canadian High Commission in Tanzania. Mary is currently working as a gender and development specialist in gender and policy analysis, gender budgeting, participatory training and facilitation, research and organizational development of civil society organizations. She has published numerous articles and book chapters relating to gender and development issues.
